Fun back East: May 2008

Boston
Advice: take the “T” everywhere, eat at La Summa in Little Italy, and go to the Public Library. We love going back East. Everything looks and feels old….because it is old. Boston was no exception. While there we were able to go to the Old North Church, Paul Revere's home, the aquarium, the public library, Trinity church (and see dozens of other breautiful, old, grand churches), Bunker hill (climbed all 300 steps to the top).

Acadia National Park
Advice: Don’t miss the “trendy yet delicious” popovers; get to them by bike on the carriage roads. Sure you can drive around and take in the coast line but a morning or full day on the intricate web of historic carriage roads gets you into the quite (and automotive free) interior. No washboarding there, only smooth inclines followed by fun declines. And don’t miss hiking up the Beehive. It’s the non-parched version of Picacho Peak (short, steep with permanent aid climbing/hiking, not technical) and well worth it.
